What is the weather like in Zanzibar?Zanzibar has warm, sunny temperatures all year round, with temperatures ranging from 21° C - 33° C. Do I need a Visa?All visitors require a passport that must be valid for 6 months and have at least two clear pages. Most nationalities also require a visa which can be purchased on arrival or online. This can be done in advance online through this link https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/.

Do I need to take anti-malarial medication?Please check with a travel clinic in your country and follow the advice of your doctor.

Do I need to have a yellow fever certificate?A yellow fever certificate is required if you have been in a country where yellow fever is endemic for more than 12 hours. If you fly directly from Europe to Zanzibar, it is not required. If you make a 24-hour stopover in a country such as Kenya, it is required.

What is the local currency, and do I need to carry some with me to pay for goods?The local currency in Zanzibar is the Tanzanian Shilling (TSh). US dollar bank notes are also widely accepted as payment throughout the island. Please note that due to local banking practices we are unable to accept $100 US bills that were produced prior to 2007. Credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard are accepted at large establishments, including ours.

What is the electric current in Zanzibar?The local current is 220-240 VAC 50Hz. The plug sockets take the three-square pin British plugs although we offer some universal sockets in every guest room.

Does Royal Zanzibar have free Wi-Fi?Yes. There is free Wi-Fi access throughout the resort for all registered guests.

What is an acceptable mode of dress?Outside the resort, modest dressing is appreciated. Men and women are expected to dress respectably. Foreign standards do not apply outside of the resort.

Can I take photographs?You can take photos in public areas, but please ask for permission before taking pictures of individual people or private houses.

How far away is the airport from the hotel?The airport is located in Zanzibar City, approximately 65 km from the resort.

Does Royal Zanzibar offer airport shuttle service?We do offer shuttle service from the airport. The cost is $95 each way for the vehicle which is able to carry up to 4 passengers and their luggage.

Does Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort have a gym?We have a small, open-air gym for the use of guests only.

Do you have a swimming pool?We offer four beautiful, free-form swimming pools, each with its’ own feature. The most popular features are the swim-up bar and infinity pool!

Do you offer evening entertainment?Five nights a week we offer a local band or dance troupe for the entertainment of our guests.
